Description/Job Summary

Markets and originates residential loans for sale in the Home Loan Department and residential and part-time farm loans that qualify as residential loans. Develops business development strategies that target potential current customers, as well as referrals from builders, realtors, and other sources for Home Loan Department. Will service Moore, Lee, Montgomery and Richmond Counties. Proven performance record required in originating and processing mortgage loans. Commission-based with unlimited earnings. Responsibilities/Duties

  1. Marketing and Business Development: Develops and initiates marketing plan and results in business development of a successful mortgage origination program. Develops and implements a marketing plan compatible with CFC marketing plan for promotion of home mortgages in assigned area in order to meet mortgage volume and income goals. Actively performs business development, networking, and public relations activities with influencers as well as existing and potential customers. Ensures a positive CFC image by participating in marketing activities and promoting products and services. Establishes a network of referrals for mortgages in the market area. Develops and promotes an effective sales call plan to prospective customers and influencers that will build business, stimulate loan demand and expand market penetration. Works with program coordinator and appropriate portfolio loan officers in identifying and pursuing cross-selling opportunities. Follows market trends and developments to increase business in established and developing markets. Keeps informed of competition and their markets, primary products and services, major strengths and limitations, and their basic pricing arrangements.
  2. Making Loans: Completes the loan process from beginning to end to ensure a quality and beneficial loan to all involved. Gathers all information necessary for documentation, analysis, disclosure and underwriting loan requests. Analyzes complete credit and financial data on applicants to determine appropriate credit action to take under the loan program as established by investor and CFC guidelines. Utilizes loan origination and desktop underwriting software as appropriate in preparing the loan package for processing, underwriting, and closing when a loan application is taken. Appropriately prices loans and lock-ininterest rates according to CFC and Investor guidelines; achieves CFC income objectives. Collects credit report and appraisal fee when taking the loan application and underwriting and other applicable fees at the time of closing.   

  3. Reporting: Provides appropriate reports regarding loan activity and marketing functions as required by supervisor and/or CFC.

Required Qualifications

Essential:
  1. Proven performance record with at least two years experience in mortgage banking, preferably in the loan origination or processing of conventional mortgages.
  2. Possesses a current awareness of the secondary market industry, as well as, economic and housing developments in the region that may impact the housing market.
  3. Knowledge of Fannie Mae and mortgage home loan guidelines and regulations. 
  4. Possesses excellent sales and marketing skills and ability. 
  5. Is a self starter with ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  6. Strong analysis, judgment and communications (oral & written) skills. 
  7. Strong and effective organizational skills. 
  8. Superior written and oral communication skills and decision/problem-solving skills.
  9. Ability to be assertive and decisive in arriving at sound business decisions which serve the best interest of the borrowers.
  10. Ability to handle a large number of accounts and tasks simultaneously. 
  11. Demonstrated appropriate and applicable computer skills.
  12. Travel to/from influencers and prospective and current customers as well as networking opportunities and industry functions. 
Marginal:
  1. Experience with Farm Credit.
